Online Games for Note Naming and Music Reading Fluency

This month's piano studio focus is on note-reading fluency. When piano students can quickly identify landmark notes, intervals and chord patterns they can sight-read new music more easily. Piano students can get a lot of fun practice using TonicTutor.com, but the following is a list of other fun online music games they can practice for variety to help them achieve this month's note naming challenge.

Level 6

Once you have mastered quickly identifying notes and intervals, challenge yourself to raise to the next level.  Can you spot and block practice the chord patterns in your pieces consistently?

You can create your own improvisations using snippets from your assigned pieces. Experiment changing the rhythm, tempo, octaves and add crossovers to create different moods. 


Medieval Fair Improvisation

For example: 
Medieval Fair in  Piano Adventures 4 starts with an Andalusian cadence.



You can improvise to create a totally different rippling mood similar to this Create First Oceans Without A Shore improvisation. You can you leave out the G# (Make E Major chord minor) or keep the sharp for a more Spanish sound.
